Ogun people feel more secured– Army

The Commander of 35 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Alamala Barracks, Abeokuta , Brig.- Gen. MT Aminu, says residents of the state now feel more secured following the command’s peace and security drives, especially during the election.

Aminu spoke on Sunday during the 2022 edition of the West African Social Activities (WASA) at the parade ground, in Alamala Barracks, Abeokuta.

WASA is an annual social event organised by the Nigerian Army to promote bonding through social activities among personnel and families while displaying rich cultural heritage.

He said the Brigade and other security forces had created a peaceful atmosphere in the state most especially during and after the general elections.

According to him, the Brigade has an eventful year 2022, especially in its effort at maintaining law and order in the state.

He noted that the residents’ confidence had increased, saying they felt more secured while going about their daily activities.

“I must also commend the effort of the Brigade and other security agencies in ensuring a peaceful atmosphere was created during the just concluded general elections.

“These successful and continued effort by the Brigade has no doubt increased the confidence of the people.

“I can say people feel secured while they go about their daily activities,” the Commander said.

He acknowledged that the civil-military relationship as well as the synergy among security agencies had enabled a secured atmosphere in the state.

The Garrison Commander, Col. Legborsi Needum, described WASA as historic, cultural, social and regimental event which promoted rich cultural values and appraisal of the Brigade’s last year’s activities ahead of the new year.

He added that the event also created a forum for informal and social interaction in a relaxed atmosphere among officers, soldiers, their families and neighbouring communities while promoting rich cultural heritage and values.

He appreciated the conduct of the people of Ogun State during the recently concluded general elections, urging them to be law abiding citizens as security of the state remained a collective responsibility.

The social activities featured military and paramilitary parades, drama, comedy, cultural dances and displays as well as thug of war.
