A group, the Northern Inter-tribal/ Inter-Religion Alliance for Peace, Unity and Development, has urged the All Progressives Congress (APC) to consider adopting the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Rev. Yakubu Pam, as running mate to the APC Presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Speaking at a press briefing Wednesday in Abuja, the National President of the group, Alhaji Ma’aruf Abubakar Danja, said that Rev. Pam possesses all the qualities needed to move the country forward.
He said: “We are appealing to APC Ieadership to nominate a Christian of northern origin to serve as Vice President to the APC Presidential flag bearer, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. No doubt, so many names might have been flying round by so many political juggernaut and jobbers.”Not withstanding, let me emphatically say that we, as a well organized voluntary organization, are at all not against such moves, in view of the fact that we are in a democratic era, where every individual or organizations, have the right to air out their views regarding the societal issues.
“However, as a socio-cultural and inter religious body with the sole aim of preaching peaceful co-existence, unity and development, we want to appeal to the leadership of the ruling APC to consider Reverend Dr. Yakubu Pam, the current Executive Secretary of Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission to be appointed as running mate to His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Bola Tinubu.
“Our stand to appeal for Rev. Pam to deputize Ahmed Bola Tinubu are based on the following factors: Yakubu Pam is a well-known great nationalist par excellence. A bridge builder and a highly detribalized Nigerian with highly profitable links across the 774 local government areas in Nigeria. We have it on good knowledge that the present Executive Secretary of Nigeria Christian Pilgrimage Commission, Reverend Dr. Yakubu Pam, has always taken into serious consideration federal character principles.
“He does this by making sure that every segment of the country are fully involved in the day to day running or the affairs of the commission. This no doubt gives every Nigerian a sense of belonging in the commission, irrespective of their religion background as well as ethnicity, political affiliations and parental preferences.
“He is highly blessed and well equipped with unimaginable intellectual capacities that will no doubt be of great help to the presidential flag bearer of APC, which shall significantly be used to transform Nigeria when he is chosen as running mate to the presidential flag bearer.”
Continuing, he said: “Again, he will play very important roles to ensure peace, unity and development by bringing together every section of the northern part of Nigeria and the entire Nigeria together as one indivisible entity irrespective of ethnicity, religion inclination and political affiliations.
“His longevity in the vine yard of God as Reverend and head of one of the leading Church in Nigeria and beyond, will also create good opportunity for both Christians and Muslims as well as every other religion across Nigeria to freely relate with one other.
“Reverend Dr. Yakubu Pam also has comprehensivve experience on National, International, Human and Community Administration that when he is appointed as running mate to APC flag bearer, he will significantly enable the ruling APC to record landslide victory across the 36 states of Nigeria, including the FCT.”
