A housewife, Hajara Ya’u, has approached an Upper Area Court, Kubwa, FCT, seeking dissolution off her marriage with Samaila Yahaya over alleged assault.
Ya’u told the court that she got married to Yahaya, according to Islamic law in 2011, and the marriage is blessed with three children aged 11, 9 and one.
She accused Yahaya of physically assaulting her constantly with a promise to deform her.
“My husband suspects me of prostitution at the slightest opportunity, I do not love him anymore,” she said.
The plaintiff, however, begged the court to dissolve her marriage on the grounds of assault and lack of love.
The Judge, Yahaya Sheshi, said the proof of service had shown that the respondent had been served with the court processes, but refused to appear in court.
Sheshi added that the court would proceed in the respondent’s absence and adjourned the matter until July 12 for hearing.
