The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouq, Friday, paid a visit on Turkish Embassy in Abuja to commiserate with the government of Turkey over the devastating earthquake in the country.
Speaking with the Ambassador of Turkey to Nigeria, Hidayet Bayraktar, Farouq said that the federal government is with the Turkish government and people at this trying time.
She said: “We received with sad news the devastating earthquake in your country. As a caring government, we are here to commiserate with you at this trying time. As the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, it pains me whenever I learn of sad news of this nature.
“Rest assured that the administration of His Excellency President Muhammadu Buhari is with you at this time. We’ll continue to provide the needed support to help you overcome. Once again, accept our condolences as we pray for the peaceful repose of those lost in the disaster.”
While responding, the Ambassador of Turkey to Nigeria, Hidayet Bayraktar, appreciated the federal government of Nigeria for reaching out to the Turkish people, saying the minister of Humanitarian Affairs has shown she has a caring heart with the physical visit.
Glonat Newsonline reports that the minister was accompanied on the visit by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr. Nasir Sani-Gwarzo, the Director General, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mustapha Habib Ahmed, Director of Humanitarian Affairs in the ministry, Alhaji Ali Grema, among other officials of the ministry.
