Comrade Ubale

The expelled Financial Secretary of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), the apex Youth body in Nigeria, Comrade Aminu Ubale Funtua has tendered an unreserved apology to the President of the NYCN, Amb. Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo, and pledged his unwavering loyalty to his leadership.

This was contained in a letter e-signed by Comrade Aminu Ubale Funtua, and five others; Comrades Smart Uwakwe, Agwuncha Izunna, Dangata Inuwa Ibrahim, Avwoke Clinton, and Garba Bashir, which was made available to the media on Tuesday.  It could be recalled that Comrade Ubale Funtua, in collaboration with nine other ex-members of the National Executive Council (NEC) of NYCN, in a press briefing about a month ago, formed a parallel leadership of NYCN. While forming the parallel leadership, the ten of them allegedly suspended the President of NYCN, Amb. Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo, alleging that he embezzled 369,000,000 naira among other allegations.

In a counter press briefing, the National Deputy Secretary of NYCN, Comrade Rikki Nwajiofor, addressed the press and refuted every allegation made against Amb. Sukubo while declaring the actions of the parallel leadership “null and void as it was not in tandem with the 2018 NYCN constitution as amended”.

Following the actions of those who formed a parallel leadership of NYCN, the National Executive Council of NYCN convened an emergency National Management Committee meeting wherein Comrades Akoshile Mukhtar Adeola, Dotun Omoloye, Bashir Garba, Smart Uwakwe, Zaka Nehemiah, Izunna Agwuncha, Ibrahim Inuwa Dangata, Aminu Ubale Funtua, Blessing Onne Okwe, and Clinton Avwoke were expelled from NYCN.

Barely one month after their expulsion from NYCN, Six out of the ten Comrades as named above have come out to tender an unreserved apology and retracted all the allegations made against Amb. Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo, while passing a vote of confidence on his leadership as the President of NYCN.

The six Comrades have resolved to toe the path of peace in NYCN and have beckoned on the public to disregard all the letters written to government parastatals, and statements made in the media, during the time of the parallel leadership. They equally appreciated the Stakeholders of NYCN, who tirelessly ensured that peace returns to NYCN through their various level of mediations.

According to them, in the letter; “All other actions taken during the crisis and all letter(s) written to Government Agencies, as well the Private Sectors, should be disregarded in totality forthwith, as we pass a vote of confidence on the President.

“We do not support any further efforts to divide the Council as we pledge our commitments to the Peace, Unity and Progress of the Council under the leadership of Amb. Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo, while appreciating the timely intervention of Elders/ Stakeholders to restore sanity in the Council”.
