The APGA Governorship Candidate in Abia, Prof. Gregory Ibe, has said that he will give priority attention to Persons with Disability (PWD) in the state, if elected.

Ibe made the promise while addressing PWD, who were in his Campaign Office in Umuahia to congratulate him on his Supreme Court victory.

He said: “You know that our victory is your victory because this is our collective project.

“You come from different local government areas so whatever programme we have would be extended to you.

“Once we assume office, you will be considered first in our employment and empowerment programmes and scholarship scheme.”

The APGA governorship hopeful admonished them to look unto God to succeed and not get weighed down by their condition.

“It is unfortunate that governments in the Sourh-East do not appreciate your worth.

“That is the reason they cannot not provide you with the necessary support to fully harness your potential in life.

“But no matter your condition, you must discover your talent.

“God has endowed you with incredible talents in different areas.

“So, if He took away your two legs, He deposits great strength and power in your chest, hence you can do exploits with your two hands in power-lifting.

Ibe further urged them not to be discouraged by their disability from getting married in order to procreate.

He said: “You should marry and procreate, according to God’s word.

“You should not be afraid to go into marriage and have children.

“That you have one disability or the other does not mean your children will also suffer disability.

“It does not happen that way.

“Do not be scared about what your children would eat or how to raise them.

“God is there to fend for them and when they are set for higher education we shall enroll them in our scholarship scheme.”

He thanked them for formally endorsing him as their governorship candidate for the March 18 poll.

In separate speeches, the National Vice Chairman of APGA, Chief Uchenna Okogbuo, and Director-General of Ibe’s Campaign Council, Chief Longman Nwachukwu, thanked the group for identifying with APGA.

Speaking on behalf of the group, the state Chairman, Mr Wisdom
Kalu, and Patron, Chief Enyinnaya Madumere (alias Nwangwuro), said they came to formally endorse Ibe’s candidacy and celebrate his Supreme Court victory with him.

The endorsement was witnessed by the state Chairman of the party, Rev. Augustine Ehiemere,  and members of the State Executive Committee.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Supreme Court, on Wednesday in Abuja, re-affirmed Ibe’s candidacy for the election.

His emergence at the the party primary election was challenged by three other contenders, including Chief Etigwe Uwa (SAN), Mr Chikwe Udensi and Gen. Ijioma Ijioma (rtd.).
